If you've ever been in an auto wreck before you may have wondered, "What information do I have to share with the other party?" What info should I get from them? I wish there was an app for this?
Well, you'll be happy to know that there is an app for this. The National Association of Insurance Commissioners or NAIC has released a mobile application available for IPhone and Android to help you at the time of an accident.
According to the NAIC, auto wrecks happen every minute of every day so it's important to know what information you must share and what you don't.
Here are some dont's.
- Don't share your drivers license information. (Nearly 40% of respondents to their(NAIC) survey felt they should.)
- Don't share your home address. (Nearly 25% would share their home address.)
- Don't share your personal phone number. (Many believe this is necessary but it is not.)
Here are some do's.
- Do call the police even if there are no injuries. (Filing a police report will help the claims process.)
- Do take pictures.
- Do write notes about what happened as soon as possible.
- Do download the new app WreckCheck. (Available for IPhone and Android)
The WreckCheck app will help you stay calm after an accident. Giving you step-by-step instructions to create your own accident report, have the ability to take photos from the app, collect pertinent information from the accident scene, share only the information that is required and necessary with other involved parties, and it will even allow you to email your report to your insurance company or insurance agent.
Get the app, add your info about your policy and vehicle information, then you're ready if an accident should happen. This information is vital to your family and friends as well so share this post with everyone you know, it could be the tool they need to help them in a difficult situation.
