You may not believe me but bundling insurance for your home and auto can make you happy and satisfied and I'll try to prove it to you in this post.
There were two articles published this week related to Home Insurance that piqued my interest. The first came out early in the week and discussed the fact that Home insurance claims are on the rise all over the country. (Read the Full Article)
In case you haven't noticed many western states are on fire because of on going droughts. The severity of hail storms, wind storms, and other Acts of God have put severe pressure on profitability of the insurance companies.
It used to be that insurance carriers could offset some of these higher losses with returns on investment of premium dollars invested in the market and fixed investments. Those days are long gone because of the extended period of low, low interest rates. (There are disadvantages to really low interest rates, but that's for another time.). Receiving a greater return on investments would allow the company's to have smaller, less impactful rate increases, if any, in some years. That just isn't possible in this climate. Home insurance rates are going up so be aware and be prepared to shop around. You may not be happy yet but stay with me a little longer.
The second article touted that Home Insurance company's were experiencing their highest satisfaction rates in 12 years primarily because of bundling insurance policies. I've seen more and more companies advertising the benefits of bundling auto and home insurance with the same company.
According to the article (read the full article) customer satisfaction with their home insurance company rose 10% if they didn't bundle but satisfaction increased by 19% for those that bundled their insurance.
My agency highly recommends doing this as you will receive the most bang for your insurance dollar. We always look for the best overall package premium for our clients by bundling as much of their insurance as possible. Some of the 1 800 insurance companies don't write Home Insurance but they tout bundling because they have agreements with other insurance companies to offer home insurance. You will get some additional discounts but I don't really consider this "bundling" because you truly don't have the same companies insuring you. You may not receive all the benefits of true "bundling" by doing this.
